How a jewel is made

Every ISIS&GOLD gold jewel is cast, polished and checked in our Nice workshop. Nothing is bought ready-made.

  1. The alloy

We start from 750 thousandths gold: 75% pure gold, alloyed with silver and copper. It is the reference standard of French fine jewelry.

  2. Casting

Each piece is cast one by one in our Nice workshop, from our own models.

  3. Hand polishing

The mirror finish is done by hand. It is what gives the jewel its light once it sits on the enamel.

  4. Final check

Weight, dimensions, surface condition: every jewel is inspected before being packed with its certification card.

Gold does not oxidise

My jewel looks different

Gold does not oxidise. That is chemistry, not marketing: pure gold reacts neither with air, nor water, nor saliva. A jewel in 18K solid gold cannot rust, and cannot tarnish from within. Whenever the look changes, the cause is on the surface — and it can be undone.

« My jewel looks dull, as if veiled »

What is happening

A deposit has settled on the surface: dental plaque, tartar, toothpaste residue. The gold underneath is untouched — it is the deposited layer that no longer reflects the light.

What to do

A scaling, or a gentle clean at your technician's, is enough to bring the shine back.

« My jewel has darkened »

What is happening

Gold itself does not darken. What takes on colour is what clings to the surface — coffee, tea, red wine, tobacco — or, more rarely, the 25% of alloy (silver, copper) in contact with sulphur or chlorine: swimming pools, whitening products, some mouthwashes.

What to do

It stays on the surface. Re-polishing gives the jewel back its original look.

« It is the rim around the jewel that has yellowed »

What is happening

That is not the jewel: it is the composite holding it. This dental resin is porous and absorbs pigments over time, exactly like a filling does. By far the most frequent case.

What to do

The composite is renewable. Your technician removes it and re-bonds the jewel — the gold itself is reused as it is.

« The shade looks different to me »

What is happening

The shade of 750‰ gold comes from its proportion of silver and copper, and it is always read against the tooth next to it. Teeth whitening, a different light, another phone camera: the jewel has not changed, its surroundings have.

What to do

Compare in daylight, on the same tooth. If a doubt remains, write to us.

Gold in the mouth

Gold is the oldest metal in dentistry, and that is no accident.

Over a century in dentistry

Inlays, crowns, bridges: gold has been used in the mouth since the late 19th century, precisely because it does not corrode in contact with saliva.

Inert, and nickel-free

The 750‰ alloy combines gold, silver and copper. It contains no nickel, the metal most often behind contact allergies. Allergy to gold itself is exceptional.

Nothing is drilled

The jewel is bonded onto the enamel, like a tooth gem. No preparation of the tooth, no drilling. Removal must be done by a health professional.

Häufige Fragen

Was bedeutet 750‰?

Ich habe meine Karte verloren, was nun?

Can my jewel be removed?

Yes, by a health professional or by your tooth gem technician. The enamel is neither prepared nor drilled: the fitting is reversible.
